I bought these are a replacement to an almost identical pair I inherited from my Dad. These are pretty good, but not quite as good as the old ones. The parallel faces aren't quite parallel and the metal seems just not quite as good either. I do recommend them, but they aren't quite as awesome as they could be. I will say that the side cutter is definitely awesome -- the leverage is so good they cut through anything that will fit between the blades.Actually I did not know they even made these anymore. I already had a pair of 55 year old Sargent hand vice pliers, and wanted a duplicate for a gift, and found it on Amazon, lucky me. Quality is identical to the pair I have, just a tad larger, I guess mine is the four inch version, and I'm not sure if that one is still available. Its not inexpensive, but for a useful hand tool that is built for a lifetime, its a good value.I have owned and used this model of sargent pliers since the 1950s and have worn out at least 8 pair over the years doing fence work. the pliers were always excellent but this pair the side cutters did not align up and would not cut wire. usually use 10 guage fence wire. all the older pliers cut wire very easely. had to return them. may be quality control.Did not allow to return even though defective. waited over thirty days before realizing this as do not work with barbed wire every day. Crimp would not take them back even though they have a year warrantee. Not good customer service in my book at all.To big for my hand and there's a cap between the teeth of the pleirs. For the money I spent it should have been better made.Seems to be built well, except the jaws are not quite parallel (small gap). Nice grips.Did not like at all cuter very poor couldn’t cut higher tension at all plires very poor not worth moneyBest pliers, this is the real stuff!
